Japan Intends To Build The City Of Tokyo ' Reserve '
Government of Japan had a radical idea to build the city of Tokyo ' reserve '. Thus if at any time disaster occurs in Tokyo, the seat of Government and business can be temporarily moved to the city reserves.
The city reserves will be named with the code IRTBBC or stands for Integrated Resort, Tourism, Business and Backup City. The plan, the city will be built 300 miles west of Tokyo, on land that is currently applied to Itami airfield.
It was getting obsolete and no longer popular, outdone by another airport such as Kansai and Kobe. The airfield has an area of about 1,236 hectares.
Later, the area will be filled with a variety of facilities for Parliament too, so that Government ministries can continue even in the midst of natural disasters. In addition, it will be built as well as a complex of offices, resorts, casinos, open green space and 652 metres tall tower.
The whole infrastructure is expected to be put around 50,000 families with the number of workers from the nearby city of about 200,000, such as the Osaka City reserves from the North.
"The idea is that there is a back-up, there is a battery backup to run a country," said a member of the Democratic Party of Japan Hajime Ishii at the announcement of the project plan, as reported by from archdaily, Tuesday (7/11/2011).
To date, these plans are still limited to concepts, although it supported full though former Prime Minister of Japan Naoto Kan and Shizuka Kamei, who is now a member of the party's most influential opposition.
One group that will examine these plans already ask for 2 billion yen or approximately USD 1,54 billion to the Government of Japan to conduct the study early. However, the total cost for the project is still unknown.
